Staff Sergeant Raymond Lloyd Provost was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14th 1924. He was from Port Arthur, in Jefferson County, Texas. He was the son of Thelismar “Joe” Provost (1882-1976), and Odile Provost (1898-1987). Joe Provost seems to have had family roots in New Iberia, Iberia Parish, Louisiana.
Raymond was killed in action on his twenty-first mission while serving as the Tail Gunner on the Joe Noyes Crew. Sadly, he was close to reaching 25 combat missions and going home!
